Why are most commercial snacks crispy?

Various studies reveal that crispy bites are more addictive. They tempt us to eat without being able to stop (hence the typical “once you pop you can’t stop”).

They are hyperpalatable, which means that they have added ingredients (salt, sugar, preservatives, flavourings…) to make them tastier and difficult to stop eating.

This causes us to eat a large amount of them before feeling satiated, which leads to later problems.

Surely you have heard that phrase a thousand times. And it is absolutely true: If you eat ultra-processed, you will see it reflected in your health with short-term problems, such as peaks of hypoglycaemia and general fatigue or long-term with diseases such as obesity or diabetes.

We suggest that you start taking care of yourself: that you do some gentle exercise every day, depending on your possibilities; that you stay mentally active, reading books or articles that enrich you and above all, that you take care of your diet, since your body is the only thing that you will have throughout your life.
